The geothermal heat pump industry will be focused on Bloomington, IL on March 10-12, 2014. Bloomington is the site of the 2014 Illinois Geothermal Conference, sponsored by the the Geothermal Alliance of IL. We hope that you’ll sign on as a conference GOLD sponsor and show exhibitor today.
We’re planning on a record attendance of 300 for this year’s conference. Things will kick off with a pre-conference seminar on sizing and duct design by Jerry Faw and Brian Kumer on Monday, March 10. Vendor setup is Monday afternoon.
There’s a reception on the show floor that evening, then the conference kicks off on Tuesday morning.
We plan more than 30 concurrent sessions as a part of this year’s conference.
What’s new this year? In addition to an exciting speaker lineup that’s still being finalized, Doug Dougherty of the Geothermal Exchange Organization will provide an update on our industry, federal tax incentives and the future. There will be more than 30 different presentations in four training tracks of breakout sessions — for contractors, utility professionals, loop installers and engineers/architects. Speakers include:
*Jeff Hammond of Geo-Flo
*Brian Urlaub of Enertech Geothermal
*Brian Kumer of Thermal Imaging Services
*Utility representatives from Ameren, electric co-ops and municipal utilities
*Dave Johnson of the IL Dept. of Public Health
*Paul Bony of ClimateMaster
*Jeff Hurst of Connor Co.
*Dom Durbin of Durbin Geothermal
And that’s just the start.
The Illinois loop installer exam will be given during the conference. And as in the past, the GAOI accreditation exams will be given at the conclusion of the conference on Wednesday, March 12.
We expect about 40-50 booths on our trade show floor this year — this year’s new exhibit will be the addition of a mini-golf outing. We will have mini-golf holes at many exhibitors booths. Conference participants will play a “round” of golf, going to each vendor’s booth to complete the hole. Vendors will sign their scorecard and the golfer with the lowest score will an Ipad Mini! (a drawing will be held to break ties) The golf outing will increase traffic in your exhibit — and it’ll be a lot of fun in the vendor area (more on the golf outing in the coming weeks).
For now, we want to recognize our solid, regular conference sponsors ASAP on our website and other materials. Please sign up to sponsor the conference as soon as you can, and we’ll start recognizing your company! While you’re at it, please complete the booth registration as well.
As in the past, Gold sponsors (25 percent discount) and GAOI members ($100 per booth) qualify for significant discounts on their booth space. In addition, all exhibiting vendors will receive one conference registration at no charge.
One note — the GAOI has transitioned from Paypal to the Intuit online payment system. We think this will be a lot more user friendly for all participants this year. So please complete the online payment process with your Visa or MasterCard — if it’s more convenient, we’ll be glad to invoice you for your exhibit registration/sponsorship prior to the conference. Just let us know what is best for you.
We appreciate your support as always. If you have any questions or issues, please contact me at your convenience.
